Canon at the Festival of Speed
I’d never been to the Goodwood Festival Speed before so when Canon UK asked me to video their stand there for the #canonsummer promotion I wasn’t really sure what to expect. It turned out to be a video producers’ dream, fast cars, fast bikes, vintage cars, vintage bikes, sunshine, hot dogs and the lovely people from Canon showing off all their latest products and offering some brilliant prizes to the thousands of punters who visited the stand.
Again, it was a one day shoot with a one day edit – which Canon made absolutely no changes to – presumably because they felt that the finished video summed up the day perfectly. It was shot on my old EOS 7D, admittedly with the use of some very nice lenses, and then edited in Premiere Pro CC.
One issue I had was with first shot of the Red Arrows, the sort of star-burst towards the camera with the red, white and blue smoke trails. It all happened a bit quick for me and I didn’t have time to focus up correctly. Despite the fact I got plenty of other excellent shots of the display team, I felt this was the best shot to introduce them into the video sequence. So in attempt to getting it through Canon’s quality vetting process I used a great little AEScript called Fixel Detailizer 2 which worked wonders. It was only $29.99 and I think was worth every penny.
